The way to improve the adhesion of polyurethane coated wheels without delamination
Source:   Author:

The key to preventing delamination of polyurethane coated wheels lies in selecting appropriate materials and strictly controlling the coating process. Here are some specific methods and suggestions: 1. Choose suitable materials

Select high-quality polyurethane materials as raw materials to ensure good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and adhesion. The purity, impurity content, and molecular structure of the raw materials will affect the adhesive strength and durability of the coated wheel. Adhesive:

Choose the appropriate adhesive to ensure a good bond between the polyurethane elastomer and the wheel core. Adhesives should have strong adhesive strength and be able to maintain stable bonding effects under various working conditions.

2、 Strictly control the encapsulation process

Surface treatment of wheel core: Cleaning: Remove oil stains, rust and other impurities from the surface of the wheel core to ensure that the surface is clean and free of dirt. The new wheel core needs to be cleaned with a cleaning agent; The old wheel core needs to remove the outer layer of adhesive and clean the remaining adhesive and impurities. Rough treatment: roughen the surface of the wheel core, such as sandblasting, to increase the bonding area with the coating. When sandblasting, suitable sand particles should be selected according to the material of the wheel core.

Heating: Heating the wheel core before applying adhesive can help improve the bonding effect.

Sealing process:

Glue application: Apply adhesive evenly on the adhesive surface of the wheel core.

Pouring: Pour pre heated and thoroughly stirred polyurethane mixture into the mold, paying attention to anti fouling control during the process to avoid secondary oil stains, dust impurities, etc. from entering the mold.

Transportation: Ensure that the bricking time is long enough, generally not less than 12 hours, and even 10-15 hours, to ensure a tight bond between the polyurethane and the wheel core. During the vulcanization process, temperature should be controlled to avoid adverse effects caused by excessively high or low temperatures.

subsequent processing

Polishing: Polish the rubber wheel according to customer requirements to achieve the desired size and shape. For situations with high surface requirements, CNC grinding machines can be used for mirror polishing. Timeliness treatment: If time permits, a one month manual aging vulcanization treatment can help further improve the adhesive strength and durability of the rubber wheel. 3、 Other precautions:

Mold Design

The mold should have good sealing and be easy to close, open, and demold. When designing, the thermal balance of polyurethane should also be considered to avoid poor curing caused by uneven heating.

reasonable use

Reasonably use polyurethane coated wheels based on their load-bearing capacity to avoid overloading and damage or delamination of the coating layer.

Regularly cleaning the surface of the rubber wheel and keeping it clean can help extend its service life.

storage environment

Avoid storing the rubber wheel in high temperature and high humidity environments to prevent deformation or cracking of the rubber layer.
